Biotransformation is the process by which enzymes undertake chiral reactions E.G. asymmetric synthesis (asymmetric reactions that produce a single chiral compound from a pro-chiral precursor) or by resolution (conversion of an enantiomer by selective bioconversion). This is a robust and low cost process to produce chiral pure compounds
With DAICEL, CHIRAL TECHNOLOGIES EUROPE has a commanding position in enantioselective reactions for:
- Oxydo-reduction of carbonyl compounds into chiral alcohols AND alpha-keto acids.
- Transamination to form chiral amino acids and amino alcohols.
We also have a collection of several thousand micro-organisms we can screen for specific useful reactions in order to clone the corresponding enzyme.
With DAICEL’s facility in Arai (Japan), we have fermentors ranging from 4 to 50 m3 with various online separation processes allowing low cost processes.
