Biotransformation is the process by which enzymes undertake chiral reactions E.G. asymmetric synthesis (asymmetric reactions that produce a single chiral compound from a pro-chiral precursor) or by resolution (conversion of an enantiomer by selective bioconversion). This is a robust and low cost process to produce chiral pure compounds

With DAICEL, CHIRAL TECHNOLOGIES EUROPE has a commanding position in enantioselective reactions for:

  • Oxydo-reduction of carbonyl compounds into chiral alcohols AND alpha-keto acids.
  • Transamination to form chiral amino acids and amino alcohols.

We also have a collection of several thousand micro-organisms we can screen for specific useful reactions in order to clone the corresponding enzyme.

With DAICEL’s facility in Arai (Japan), we have fermentors ranging from 4 to 50 m3 with various online separation processes allowing low cost processes. You can also benefit from our extensive chemical facilities and several DAICEL chemical synthesis technologies for performing downstream reactions up to your final enantiomeric pure API.
